History also tells that in 1498 the King of Portugal D. Manuel I🤓, during a trip to Spain, was dazzled by the exuberance of the Moorish interiors and the complex chromatic proliferation of the wall coverings of the building he admired in Zaragoza, Toledo and Seville, the main centers of azulejo production. Very inspired, he decided to order such amazing azulejos for his residence, the actual Sintra National PalacešŸ°. This is how the Hispano-MoorishĀ azulejo appears in Portugal…

Popularized by the bourgeoisie who cheerfully used them as ornamentation on their homes facadesšŸ˜ļøas a sign of social success, in Portugal azulejos also sublimated churches⛪and palacesšŸ°, transforming Portuguese heritage into luxurious works of art for posterity.

Without any transition, I would like now to explain you this printing technique šŸ–Øļø called: sublimation.

āš—ļøšŸ§Ŗ"Sublimation is the direct transition of a body from the solid state to the gaseous state, without going through the liquid state.

šŸ–ØļøIn printing, it is a hot stamping technique where the ink gasifies to become permanently embedded in the polyester fiber or treated supports, offering high quality, bright colors🌈and great durability.

Here are the key pointsšŸ—ļøconcerning sublimation:

⚔The Technical Process: The sublimation ink is mirror printed on transfer paper, then heat pressed onto the support. Under heat, the ink becomes gaseous, penetrates the support and solidifies again.

⚔Compatible supports: It is mainly applied to white or light polyester textiles and rigid objects with a polyester coating, cups, shells, wood, metal... and tiles.

šŸ’”Now enlightened, let me explain, in great detail, how our azulejos are Made in Portugalā€‹šŸŽā€‹šŸ‹ā€‹šŸ„’.

The process is simple, requires patience and rigor, a little technique, and above all, a lot of time;

The process involves several steps:

šŸ“·Photography:

1) spot the places

2) determine the ideal time to have optimal lightingšŸŒ¤ļø

3) when the time comes, arm yourself with your Canon, or Nikon... and machine gun šŸ“ø

šŸŖ„ā€‹šŸ–¼ļøā€‹Photo editing:

1) be patient, because this step may take several hours

2) increase brightness, contrast, adjust blacks, whites, saturate colors... of your shottings using your computer šŸ–„ļø

3) Very important, before printing, export your files in CMYK formatšŸ©µā€‹šŸ©·ā€‹šŸ’›ā€‹šŸ–¤ā€‹...
